Mrs. Betty J. Burkeen, 89

Mrs. Betty J. Burkeen, age 89 of Benton, KY died on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center, Paducah, KY. She was retired from Tri State Rural Gas Company as an accountant and was a member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church. She was the former secretary/treasurer for Briensburg Fire Department, was a school bus driver for the Marshall County School System, and worked for Kentucky Dam State Park.

Born Sunday, June 26, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Milburn English and the late Mary (Newton) English.

She is survived by her son, David Howard, wife Deborah of Calvert City, KY, sister, Dolores Brindley, grandchildren, James M. Howard, Matt Howard, Melissa, step-grandchildren, Martin Burkeen, Bill Burkeen, Cindy Taylor, and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Randall L. English, first husband, James W. Howard, second husband, William J. Burkeen, children, Darrell L. Howard, Debra L. Howard, and step-sons, Phillip Burkeen and Daryl Burkeen.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Marshall Co. Memory Gardens located at Hwy U.S. 641 North Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Dr. Darvin Stom officiating.

Interment will follow.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th Street, Benton, KY 42025.
