Shirley English, 83

Shirley English, 83, of Benton, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021 at her residence.

Shirley was born in Chenoa, Illinois on February 9, 1938. She was the co-owner and operator alongside her husband, Norman, at English Market where they raised and sold local produce. She was also very proud to be the shortest Kentucky Highschool Sports Association referee for boys basketball. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and collecting antiques. She was a member of Benton church of Christ.

She is survived by her two daughters, Julie Copeland (Mark) and Kellie Harrell (Jeff) both of Calvert City; one son, Doug Hinshaw (Carlon) of Gibson City, IL; three brothers, Ron Willis of Thornton, Colorado, Chuck Raby of Chenoa, IL and Brian Raby of Chenoa, IL; son-in-law, Ron Barrett of Benton; eleven grandchildren, Crystal Nye, Mandy Nicoladies, Chris Hinshaw, Chad Hinshaw, Regan Emerson, Andee York, Brandon Barrett, Melissa Barrett, Morgan Ferguson, Hailey Dycus, and Jordon Harrell; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Norman English; two daughters, Sherry English Barrett and Cindy Hinshaw; her brother, Robert Wills; three grandsons, Eric Long, Brian Hinshaw, and Brandon Hinshaw; and her mother, Ada Raby.

A graveside service for Shirley will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Peck Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation.
