Mr. Tom Geerdes, 76

Mr. Tom Geerdes, 76, of Benton, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

Mr. Geerdes was born on October 22, 1944 in George, Iowa to the late John and Lucy Willemssen Geerdes. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Benton. Tom was an avid poet, musician and painter. He owned multiple small businesses throughout his life and for 20 years he served on the World Missions and Evangelism Board. Most importantly, Mr. Geerdes never let an opportunity pass to tell someone about Jesus and how much He loved them.

Those preceding him in death include his wife, Christine Geerdes; a daughter, Mareeka Bachuss; a brother, David Geerdes; a sister, June Wood, in addition to his parents.

Those he lovingly leaves behind include a daughter, Hannah Campbell (Andrew) of Lexington; son in law, Chris Bachuss of Franklin, TN; brother, Gilbert Geerdes (Carol) of Missouri Valley, Iowa; sisters, Grace Hodgson of Davis, CA, Lila Brownell of Eugene, OR, Cindy Barker (Larry) of Hohenwald, TN; four grandchildren, Amelia and Tenzing Bachuss, Sam and Harper Campbell.

A graveside service is set for 10 AM on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in LBL. Richie Clendenen will officiate.

His family will receive visitors from 5 – 7 PM on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home, 1804 Highway 121 Bypass North, Murray. The family asks that you abide by social distancing guidelines and masks are preferred.
