Freddy Laird, 86

Freddy Ray Laird, age 86, of Paducah, previously of Dukedom, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Freddy was born on January 23, 1934, in Dukedom to the late Joe and Virgilene Taylor Laird. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. Freddy graduated from Cuba High School in 1952 before joining the United States Navy. He served honorably for five years in the Navy before joining the United States Coast Guard, where he retired after 17 years of service, including service at the local Paducah Cost Guard Auxiliary. During those years, Freddy traveled all over the United States and spent time abroad in Bermuda and Japan.

Freddy will be remembered as being an outgoing man who never met a stranger. He loved to spend his free time with the Four Rivers Corvette Club. Above all, Freddy will be remembered as being the most loving husband, father and grandfather by his family.

Freddy is survived by his wife of 21 years, Lucille Leidecker Laird of Paducah; one son, Kelly Ray Laird and wife, Michelle of Bardwell; two step-daughters, Janice Mathis and husband, Larry of Symsonia and Kathy Powell of Paducah; four grandchildren, Nathanael Laird and wife, Darla of Arlington, Heather Michelle Council of Paducah, Tammy Renee Mathis of Decatur, Alabama and Jason Crittendon of Washington, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Chelsey Nicole Council, Trevin K. Crittendon and Jayce Crittendon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Freddy will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Mike Nolen and Rev. Ike Murphey officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
