Dortha Hendon Winchester, age 88, of Murray, KY, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 13, 2020, after a loving stay at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray.
Dortha was born on August 25, 1931, to John Richard and Evon Wheatly Hendon, who proceeded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Michael Winchester and Donnie Hugh Winchester and wife Gina Shipley Winchester; two grandsons, Michael Austin Winchester and John Ryne Winchester all of Murray, KY; as well as two granddaughters, Allie & husband Trad Robertson of Calvert City, KY and Amanda & husband Tanner Richerson of Orlando, FL; and one great-granddaughter, Anyston Lilly of Calvert City, KY.
Dortha graduated as valedictorian from New Concord School in 1949. She worked at Rose’s Department Store and served as the first full-time Secretary to 7th & Poplar and Glendale Road Churches of Christ for 20 years from which she retired in 1996. She was a member of Glendale Road Church of Christ. She loved spending time with her family and church friends. She could also be seen on occasion visiting or conducting a yard sale.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services. John Dale will officiate, and burial will follow in the New Concord Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior the funeral service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
