Mrs. Velma Nadine Weis, 93 of Benton, died on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her home in Benton.
Born Monday, August 6, 1923, in Cherryvale, Kan., she was a
member of Calvert City United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United
Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Kentucky Order of the Eastern Star,
charter member of the Calvert City Golf Club and was a avid golfer herself.
Mrs. Weis is survived by her son, Thomas E. Weis and his wife Sue of Calvert City; daughter, Mary A. Smith of Toutle, Wash.; sisters, Doris Botten and her husband Ray of Coal City, Ill., and Rita Powell and her husband Paul of Weeping Water, Neb.; eight
grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Weis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leory Weis; daughter, Linda
Doom; brother, Donald L. Alexander; and sister, Yvonne Hornback.
Her parents were the late Henry and Effie (Bussert) Alexander.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017, in the chapel of Collier
Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Gregory Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in
Calvert City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held between the hours of noon and 2 p.m. on Monday, May 1,
2017,Na at Collier Funeral Home, 211 W 5th St, Benton, KY 42025.
