(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) – Students, families, and community members are invited to celebrate the start of the 2025-2026 academic year at Calvert City’s Back to School Splash, a special evening edition of the popular Food Truck Friday series.

The free community event will be held Friday, August 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Calvert City Memorial Park, located at 1072 5th Avenue. The celebration promises an evening packed with family-friendly activities designed to build excitement for the upcoming school year.

Event Highlights

Memorial Park will feature multiple entertainment options for attendees of all ages. Children can enjoy inflatable bounce houses and full access to the park’s splash fountain, while live music sets the festive tone throughout the evening. Local food trucks will provide dinner options and treats for families.

The celebration will conclude with a foam party and prize drawings, with Amazon and Walmart gift cards generously donated by area businesses and organizations.

Community Support

Mayor Gene Colburn emphasized the event’s role in fostering community connection around education. “As we celebrate the start of a new school year, I want to wish every student, teacher, and family a safe and successful year ahead,” Colburn stated. “The Back to School Splash is our way of bringing the community together in support of education, connection, and fun. Let’s encourage our students to stay motivated, be kind, and give their best this school year.”

Local businesses and organizations are welcome to participate by setting up informational booths at no cost. Those interested in reserving booth space can contact the city at info@calvertcityky.gov.
