(Owensboro, KY)  — The Marshall County Special Olympics softball team made a strong debut at the Daviess County Special Olympics Softball Tournament this weekend. This marks the first year the county has fielded a Special Olympics softball team, and the players made a memorable first impression.

In their opening game, the Marshals faced off against the Bowling Green Stingrays. The team came out swinging, putting up an impressive 7 runs in the top of the first inning. The Marshals maintained their momentum throughout the game, securing a dominant 13-2 victory.

Their second game was against the Owensboro Stingers, a talented and well-matched opponent. Both teams battled hard, and the game ended in a 6-6 tie due to a rain delay that halted play.

Coach and team representatives expressed pride in the athletes’ effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The tournament was an exciting start to what promises to be a bright future for Special Olympics softball in Marshall County.
