MCPL Mini-Con Returns for a Bigger, Bolder Year Two on July 12th
Benton, KY — After drawing 300-400 attendees during its debut year, Marshall County Public Library’s Mini-Con is back for its 2nd Annual event—and it’s leveling up in every way. Set for Saturday, July 12th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, this free, all-ages celebration of fandom, creativity, and community is ready to bring even more magic, fun, and fandom to Benton.
Due to valuable community support and feedback, this year’s Mini-Con boasts extended hours, a larger venue footprint, and a packed schedule full of new and returning favorites.
What’s New in 2025:
- Longer Hours: More time to enjoy panels, shopping, games, and activities!
- Expanded Event Space: Larger events and guest speakers will now be hosted at the Marshall County Children’s Arts Center across the street from the library.
- More Vendors & Creators: With 22 vendors, artists, and authors in our upstairs meeting rooms, attendees can browse everything from fan art and fantasy novels to unique handmade goods.
- New “Realm of Relaxation”: A quiet zone featuring calming music, puzzles, coloring, and cozy vibes for when you need a breather from the convention buzz.
- Con Karaoke Cool Down (4:00–4:45 PM): Wind down your con day with music, popsicles, and fan-favorite karaoke in our new outdoor space.

Cosplay Contest (Registration 12–1 PM, Contest 3–3:45 PM)
Cosplay Contest Details:
Participants can register between 12:00–1:00 PM at the Children’s Arts Center (in costume). Judging is based on accuracy, craftsmanship, complexity, and portrayal. Categories: Kids (0–12), Teens (13–17), Adults (18+). Winners receive a custom medal made in the library’s makerspace!

“This year’s MCPL Mini-Con event is back and better than ever,” said Benton Branch Manager Lenisa Jones. “Now that we have done one, we know what things to expand on and do better with for this year. If you came last year, we hope you can make it again this year. If you are new and always wanted to see what a con is all about, this one is for you as well. There are so many great activities, vendors, and sessions happening all in one place for this year’s mini-con.”
