Mr. Gerald V. Swanson, 88, of Murray, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab in Paducah
Mr. Swanson was born on December 30, 1934 in Moline, IL to the late Carl Vernon Swanson and Shirley Sweet Swanson. Gerald taught history for 20 years at Woodrow Wilson Junior High in Moline, IL. In addition, he worked in sales for ten years with National Manufacturing in Sterling, IL and served as the County Clerk in Hannah Township for five years in Geneseo, IL.
Gerald loved birding, being in the outdoors and antique cars. After moving to Murray, KY he enjoyed Kentucky Lake activities and sightseeing. Gerald was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murray.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a half sister, Diane Swanson Morel.
Those left to cherish many wonderful memories include his loving wife of 66 years, Mrs. Nancy Swanson of Murray; daughters, Kim Scott (Ira) of Almo, Denise Swanson (Ann Kelly) of Eugene, OR; half brother, Ronald Swanson; half sister, Vernette Swanson and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Garrett Scott.
The funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Gerald Swanson will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 22, 2023 the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home. Jim Stahler will officiate and entombment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.
His family welcomes visitors from 10 am – 11 am on Friday at the Heritage Chapel.
