He was the son of the late William Ted Atkins and the late Dorthy (Darnall) Atkins. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Sammie Ray Atkins and Ronald Ted Atkins.
He is survived by his wife: Cathy (Malone) Atkins of Benton, KY; one son: Michael Atkins and wife Brandi of Benton, KY; two daughters: Kelly Atkins of Benton, KY, Tracy Story and husband Justin of Benton, KY; two sisters: Dodie Conner and husband Randy of Jackson, TN and Trena Tramel of Columbia, SC; and seven grandchildren: Caitlyn Ivey, Kinsey, Kamden, and Kendal Story, and Brady, Colton, and Hudson Atkins.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Visitation will be held between the hours of 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Benton, KY. Masonic rites will begin at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with a memorial service beginning immediately after with Bro. Jim Capps officiating.
