(EDDYVILLE, Ky.)-A busy week for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office included an ATV theft, a pharmacy burglary, two scam incidents, and a trespassing call that escalated into a knife confrontation.
ATV Stolen From Auction Prep Site
A family preparing for an upcoming auction reported a theft Sunday evening after a blue and white 2005 Yamaha four-wheeler disappeared from their property off KY 819. The 50cc ATV, valued at $2,000, had been placed in a field with other auction items when it was taken by unknown persons. Deputy Bobby Beeler investigated the incident.
Pharmacy Burglary in Kuttawa
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 17, two unidentified suspects forced their way into McConnell Health Mart Pharmacy on Cedar Street in Kuttawa, damaging a door in the process. Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded to the burglar alarm around 3:25 a.m. and found evidence the pair had attempted to steal items before fleeing on foot.
Murder Suspect Apprehended
On Wednesday, deputies served an indictment warrant from Scott County on Ryan T. Crawley, 41, of Georgetown. Crawley faces charges of murder, kidnapping resulting in death, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence. He is being held pending extradition to Scott County.
Phone Scam Drains Bank Account
A Kuttawa woman lost thousands of dollars Thursday after receiving a phone call from someone posing as a Verizon customer service agent. The caller directed her to click a link, which gave the scammer full remote control of her smartphone — including access to her banking app. Her phone was placed into SOS mode, leaving her unable to intervene. Sheriff Brent White urged residents to verify caller identities before clicking any links or sharing personal information.
PayPal Fraud Reported
The following day, a Kuttawa man reported receiving a fraudulent PayPal invoice claiming he owed $555.03 — despite never having a PayPal account. Chief Deputy Adams is continuing to investigate.
Bench Warrant Arrest
Also on Friday, Bryer L. Blakley, 25, of Calhoun turned himself in to Sheriff White on a Lyon District Court bench warrant for failure to appear on an illegal hunting citation. Blakley posted bond and was released pending a court date.
Knife Brandished During Trespassing Dispute
A trespassing complaint off Green Road escalated into a criminal arrest Friday afternoon after a male subject pulled a knife on a female property owner. A neighbor had initially spotted the man on the property and witnessed him urinating in the open before calling for him to leave. When the property owner arrived and confronted the man on Green Road, he became aggressive and drew a knife from his waistband, brandishing it at her. She fled and called 911.
Investigators obtained photographs to identify the suspect, Brian C. Goodson, 42, of Kuttawa, and later located him at a residence off KY 810 South. A knife matching the victim’s description was recovered. Goodson was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
