(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) — In recognition of the urgent need to address suicide prevention, local organizations and businesses are coming together to host a community-wide awareness event that aims to break the silence surrounding mental health struggles.
The Calvert Area Development Association (CADA), in partnership with the City of Calvert City and 50’s Cafe, will host the “Calvert Cares – Suicide Prevention Walk” on September 16th at 7:00 PM at Memorial Park. The event represents a unified community response to a critical public health issue that organizers emphasize is entirely preventable.
“This walk serves as our community’s declaration that we stand with those who have been affected by suicide,” said event organizers. “We want everyone to know that support exists and that every story matters.”
The evening will provide a space for participants to share personal experiences, honor the memory of loved ones lost, and find connection with others who understand their journey. Organizers stress that the gathering extends beyond a simple walk, creating an opportunity for healing and hope within the community.
The event comes at a time when mental health awareness has become increasingly important nationwide. By bringing residents together in Memorial Park, organizers hope to foster conversations that can save lives and remind attendees of a powerful message: “Your story doesn’t end here.”
Community members of all ages are invited to participate in this meaningful evening of remembrance, support, and advocacy for suicide prevention resources.
