(BENTON, Ky.) — The Marshall County Exceptional Center (MCEC) has launched a community gas card drive throughout the month of August to help maintain transportation for their 46 clients who rely on the center’s services.

The center is seeking donations of $25 gift cards to FiveStar or Walmart Gas stations, with a goal of raising $500 — equivalent to one month’s worth of gas expenses or 20 gift cards total.

“Keeping our clients active and engaged in the community is essential to their well-being,” said MCEC Executive Director Lindsey Walker. The transportation assistance helps ensure clients can continue participating in programs and activities offered by the MCEC.

Community members can contribute to the drive in several ways: gift cards can be dropped off directly at the Marshall County Exceptional Center, donated over the phone by credit card at (270) 527-1327, or mailed to the center at 198 Old Symsonia Road, P.O. Box 423, Benton, Kentucky 42025.

The center plans to provide daily updates on their Facebook page throughout August, tracking progress toward their goal and recognizing donors who contribute to the effort.

The Marshall County Exceptional Center serves individuals with developmental disabilities, providing programs and services designed to promote independence and community involvement.
