Kentucky League of Cities Presents Representative Chris Freeland a 2025 ‘Friend of Kentucky Cities’ Award
FRANKFORT, KY – The Kentucky League of Cities presented Representative Chris Freeland (R-Benton) with the 2025 “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award. KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney and Director of Government Affairs Gracie Kelly presented the award alongside KLC President and Benton Mayor Rita Dotson and Kuttawa Mayor Barbra Campbell in recognition of Representative Freeland’s work during the 2025 Regular Session. He also championed a portion of Senate Bill 25, which establishes a local fire appeals board, which fire departments a fair and efficient process to resolve appeals.”
“Representative Freeland sponsored House Bill 555, a KLC initiative that helps smaller cities complete their annual audits by providing more flexibility in meeting audit requirements without reducing oversight or accountability,” said Government Affairs Director Gracie Kelly. “This legislation will solve a major issue for many cities, while still ensuring timely reporting, and review of public funds.”
KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney thanked Representative Freeland for being a long-standing supporter of Kentucky cities. “Kentucky cities thank you for your efforts in the General Assembly. Cities and KLC look forward to working with you in the upcoming budget session.”
