KY 408/Eggners Ferry Road, East of Benton, Reopens Following $9.1M Group Bridge Project

PADUCAH, Ky. (June 11, 2025) – KY 408/Eggners Ferry Road, just east of Benton in Marshall County, reopened to traffic late Tuesday afternoon, June 10, following the completion of four new bridges along the Clarks River Wildlife Refuge.

The project included the replacement of the Johns River Bridge, Johns River Overflow Bridge, Clarks River Bridge, and Clarks River Overflow Bridge, all of which had been closed for approximately 20 months during construction.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 1, the $9.1 million bridge replacement project, spanning mile points 8.5 to 10.2 on KY 408, was finished two months ahead of schedule.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers served as the project’s prime contractor.
