He formerly worked for Ronnie Holmes Construction and was a retired employee of General Tire.
Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gina Haywood Holmes; two sons, Jason (Michelle) Holmes and Rick Holmes, Jr. both of Mayfield, KY; two daughters, Kimberly Holmes and Lindsey Holmes (Jason) Vaughan both of Mayfield, ky; four stepsons, Brandon (Holly) Sweatman of Pensacola, FL, Scott Sweatman Mayfield, KY, Jake (Paige) Sweatman of Mayfield, KY and Clay Sweatman of Paducah, KY; two brothers, Ronnie (Rhonda) Holmes of Mayfield, KY and Rodney Holmes of Indiana; sixteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Lambert Holmes; one brother, Rudy Holmes; one son, Todd Holmes; and his parents, James and Dortha Rudolph Holmes.
Funeral services for Mr. Richard “Ricky” Holmes, Sr. will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY. Rev. Chad Frizzell will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Holmes, Rick Holmes, Brandon Sweatman, Scott Sweatman, Jake Sweatman, Clay Sweatman, Conner Holmes, Shannon Holmes and Micah Holmes.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
