
Mr. Billy Thompson, age 88, of Almo, Kentucky, passed away, Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky.
Mr. Thompson was born on June 9, 1936, in McCraken County, Kentucky, to the late Gladys Thompson. He was employed at West Kentucky Rural Telephone for 40 years where he worked as a lineman and later a cable foreman. Mr. Thompson was a United Stated National Guard Veteran having served nine years in the reserves and one year in active duty.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Jean Wilkins, Martha Stokes, and Nellie Jones; as well as one brother, Eddie Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Bennett Thompson; they married on July 21, 1975, in Metropolis, Illinois; one daughter, Rhonda Thompson of Almo, Kentucky; one step-son, Ricky Hargrove and wife Brenda of Hamlin, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Cody Van Neer and wife Phyllis of Almo, Kentucky, Austin Hargrove and wife Brianna of Almo, Kentucky, Ashley Bynum and husband Jimmy of Murray, Kentucky, and Casi Howard of Illinois; as well as five great-grandchildren, Colton Bynum, Callie Bynum, Haisley Hargrove, Henley Hargrove, and Hollyn Hargrove.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Murray Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kerry Lambert officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
