
He was a member, a deacon and a song leader for over 25 years at Farmington Baptist Church, a 50 year member of the American Legion, a 3 time Kentucky Colonel, a retired employee of the Kentucky State Department of Transportation with 39 years of service and a U.S. Army veteran. He also was a passionate mule trader, knife collector, an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan, a Kentucky high school basketball fanatic and an ice cream connoisseur.
Mr. Brittain is survived by his wife, Martha Wrather Brittain; one son, Don (Laurie) Brittain of New Madrid, MO; three daughters, Vanda Brittain Elliott of Farmington, KY, Jada Brittain Mason of Hopkinsville, KY and Lou Shanda Brittain (Greg) Carter of Farmington, KY; ten grandchildren, Brittainy (Michael) Cansler, Coye (Ashley) Elliott, Ashley (Greg) Landers, Drake (Sarah) Stahr, Betsy (Doug) Riddle, Lindsey (Michael) Crouch, Andrew Brittain (Erica) Stahr, Courtney (Jessie) Story, Seth (McKinsey) Carter and Dr. Logan Fuller-Brittain (Sarah) Elliott; and sixteen great grandchildren, Grace Ann Cansler, Micah Dale Wyatt, Hallie Rae Elliott, Mason Cansler, Gaige Fuller Wyatt, Easton Elliott, Addisyn Stahr, Henry Brittain Stahr, Case Carter, Annalise Story, Byron Brittain Story, Isaac Rayburn Story, Luke Fuller-Eugene Elliott, Hudson Landers, Elsie Riddle and Parker Riddle.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Jones and Clara Mae Brittain; one son-in-law, David Elliott; and his parents, Rayburn Hoy and Hallie Mae Fuller Brittain.
Funeral services for Mr. Rayburn Fuller Brittain will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Farmington Baptist Church. Rev. Ben Stratton and Rev. Keith Allred will officiate. Interment will follow at Farmington Cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #26.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Carter, Charles Ray Harris, Steven Mason, Jim Crum, Randy Riley, Jeff Riley, Joey Riley, Steve Crouch, Joe David Smith, Richard Reed, Robert Kemp, Roger Wetherington and Alfred “Pee Wee” Delk.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.
