Animal torture and cruelty case, law enforcement actively seeking homeowner

On March 31, 2025 the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a severe case of animal cruelty and torture.

The investigation led us to a residence in the 9000 block of Woodville Road, located in the West Paducah area. A search warrant was executed at the home, where David Howery (66) was contacted.

Eighteen (18) dogs were found inside the home, living in deplorable conditions. One had to be euthanized on scene due to its poor condition. The main areas of the home were stacked floor to ceiling with crates, with the animals defecating and urinating onto the ones below them.

The home was infested with fleas and rodents and the animals were all in need of serious medical care and treatment. A total of thirty-two (32) dogs are victims in this case.

All animals were removed from the home by McCracken County Animal Control and taken to the McCracken County Humane Society.

David Howery is actively being sought by law enforcement, if you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact us.
