Mrs. Virginia Brooks Stroud, 95, of Murray, departed this earth on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Virginia was born on August 1, 1929 in Calloway County to the late Louis Butler and Ola Mae Goheen Butler. She and her late husband owned and operated an auto upholstery business in Murray for many years. She loved working in her yard, dancing and finding that hidden treasure at a yard sale. She leaves behind many special memories that exhibit the love she felt for her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Daily Stroud “Dood”, two sisters, Dorothy Cope and Betty Sue Mohundro-Blagg and a son in law, David Gargus.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Shirley Swieter of Georgetown, TX, Rita Gargus of Hopkinsville, KY; a sister, Rose Herdman of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Mitzi Carpenter, Jennifer Hawkins, Tara Fiese, Brian Gargus, as well as, six great grandchildren, Curtis, Joey, Gabe, Deahveon, Brion, Brianna and one great great granddaughter, Eleanor.
To honor the wishes of Mrs. Stroud, there will be no funeral service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Murray Memorial Gardens.
