Marshall County’s Lady Marshals snapped a nine-game losing streak to McCracken County Thursday at Strawberry Hills Pharmacy Arena after a dominating 65-42 win over the Lady Mustangs. They remain undefeated in the early season at 4-0.
Junior Addi Wall had a tremendous game, leading the Lady Marshals with 21 points and going 5-for-5 at the free throw line while wreaking havoc on the Lady Mustangs on the defensive end. Also in double figures, Skylar Waller had 13 points and Rylee Teague had 10.
A relentless offense and defense in the first quarter lifted the Lady Marshals to an 18-0 lead before the Lady Mustangs got on the board. A three pointer from Eden Sandlin pushed the lead to 21-2 at the end of the quarter. Wall had nine points that led six different players in the scoring column.
McCracken’s Ashley Word dropped in a three to open the second quarter scoring with just their second field goal of the game. The Lady Mustangs found some offense and equaled the Lady Marshals in the quarter, each team putting up 12 points. The Lady Marshals took a 33-14 lead to the halftime locker room.
Marshall County outscored McCracken 16-9 in the third quarter with scoring from five different players led by Wall with six, to take a 26-point lead into the final quarter.
Four 3-pointers by the Lady Marshals, two from Teague and one each from Sandlin and Kenzlee Terry in the fourth quarter help power them on to the 23-point win.
For the game, the Lady Marshals hit seven threes and 8-0f-9 at the free throw line. McCracken had five threes and were 13-of-24 at the line.
The Lady Marshals will be back in the McCracken County gymnasium on Saturday to play Livingston Central in the Holiday Hoopla Classic.
