Marshall County and Murray will play on Tuesday for the 4th District Championship after both advanced with wins in Monday’s semifinals. Marshall County beat Christian Fellowship 3-0 (27-25, 25-9, 25-16) and Murray defeated Calloway County 3-1 (25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20).
The Lady Marshals will be playing for a fifth straight district title when they take on the Lady Tigers at Marshall County’s auxiliary gym at 6:00.
Marshall County held a 10-5 lead in set one on a kill from Olivia Hawkins but CFS would eventually tie it up at 13-13 and take their first lead at 14-13. The set was tied up seven more times and the eighth tie came at 25-25 when the Lady Eagles dropped the ball in an open left back to earn the point. The Lady Marshals pulled out a 27-25 win getting the set point on a kill by Hawkins.
The Lady Marshals early 4-0 lead in set two stretched out to seven at 13-6 prompting a time out for the Lady Eagles. The run by the Lady Marshals ended at 17-6 when CFS earned a side out on an out of bounds hit. The Lady Marshals momentum carried them on to a 25-9 second set win.
In the third set, the Lady Marshals lead was cut to one at 6-5 on a kill by Abby Miller. Marshall County began to pull away at 14-10 following three good serves from Shelby Ramage. The lead over CFS stretched out to eight at 22-14 and the final two points in the 25-16 set and match win came on a serve by Laney Yates and kill from Olivia Hawkins.
For the Lady Marshals, Olivia Hawkins had 10 kills, 10 digs and five aces. Bella Redden had eight kills. Emma Reynolds had 16 assists and 11 digs. Maleah Terry had four aces and 16 digs.
For the Lady Eagles, Jenna Neal had 14 kills. Emily Perez had three kills and seven assists. In digs, Abby Miller had nine and Rylee Hudson had eight.
The Lady Eagles season ends with a record of 9-19. Calloway County’s season comes to a close with a record of 8-14.
