Billie Wilson Bourland, 90, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at his home.

Billie was born on April 22, 1934, in Benton, Kentucky, to the late Charles Levi Bourland and Sarah McGregor Bourland. He was known for being a hard-working man. He spent many years working as a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181. After working as an operator, he worked as a truck driver for the Marshall County Road Department for another 10 years before retiring. Billie loved the Lord and his church and was a devoted member of Benton Church of Christ.

Billie enjoyed many hobbies and interests, most of which allowed him to spend time with others. Earlier in life he developed a passion for horses, eventually leading to his hobby of horse trading and becoming a member of the North Marshall Riding Club and West Marshall Riding Club. He also loved classic cars and was a member of the local Model A Club. One of the things he enjoyed the most was being out in public, socializing, and watching people. From his early morning breakfasts at Dairy Queen, dinner at Hutchen’s, or going to the local Walmart he loved to interact with others. More than anything else, he loved his family very much and the time spent with one another.

He is survived by two daughters, Mitzie Etheridge and Deborah Mathis (David), both of Benton, Kentucky; his four grandchildren, Justin Ethridge, Amanda Powell (Mark Balentine), Travis Mathis, and Baillie McCane (Cameron); six great-grandchildren, Steeley McCane, Stetsyn McCane, Brayden Powell, Braxton Powell, Brindley Powell, and Kelsey Etheridge; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Etta Lou Henderson Bourland; six sisters, Patsy Walker, Anna Bell Faircloth, Jackie Jones, Robbie West, Iva Jo Hilderbrant, and Janice Jones; two brothers, Jimmy Bourland and C.L. Bourland; and his parents, Charles Bourland and Sarah McGregor Bouland.
