John David Boaz, Jr. , 77 of Sebring, Florida died on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 265 Southern Comfort Road Lot 80 in Benton, Kentucky.
Born Tuesday, April 1, 1947 in Paducah, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John Boaz and the late Dorothy Johnson Boaz. John loved being at his camper on KY Lake being able to fish and just cruise the lake in his boat. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed going on cruises in the wintertime with “Jackie”. Most of all he loved his family.
John was a graduate of Lone Oak High School Class of 1965. He was a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, earning the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.
Surviving are his life partner of 14 years, Jacqueline Mechling of Sebring, FL; sister, Janice Hymer of Paducah, KY; nieces, Debbie Hymer of Paducah, KY and Christy Jeffords of Paducah, KY; nephew, David Funk, Jr. of Paducah, KY; and Brother-in- law, David Funk, Sr. of Paducah, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Boaz, and sister, Brenda Funk.
A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Collier Funeral Home Chapel with Windell Lain officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, Kentucky 42025.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Judes Children”s Research Hospital 501 St Jude PL Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or the Shriners Hospitals for Children 2900 Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607.
