Calvert City, KY (July 15, 2024) – On July 13, 2024 an officer with the Calvert City Police Department observed a vehicle operating on US 62 with an operator that he knew from prior interactions had a suspended license. A traffic stop was initiated and it was discovered that she has been cited for this same offense 3 times this year. Roshelle R. Sabbs, 27, of Paducah was arrested for operating on a suspended or revoked operators license.On July 14, 2024 an officer with the Calvert City Police Department observed a golf cart on the golf cart trail in the early morning hours with 3 male subjects. One of the subjects appeared to be standing on the back platform and they were yelling and carrying on. A traffic stop was initiated. All 3 individuals were under the influence of alcoholic beverages. There were multiple empty beer cans as well as couple of unopened ones in the golf cart. Solon Q. Peck, 18, of Calvert City was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol 1st offense. He was also charged with possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this incident and arrested the other 2 individuals.
On July 12, 2024 the Calvert City Police Department was notified of a large copper theft at Calvert City Metals and Alloys (CCMA). An officer responded and spoke to staff where it was discovered that an employee had scrapped numerous amounts of the unique copper at a local recycling center. On July 14, 2024 Taylor Morgan Phelps, 31, of Kuttawa was arrested for theft by unlawful taking $10,000 <$1,000,000. This investigation is ongoing.
