Lawrence Burnett, age 95, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Charter Assisted Living. Lawrence was born on July 9, 1928, in Graves County to the late Rudy Lawrence Burnett and Ruby Edith Ross Burnett. Lawrence was a member of Heartland Baptist Church and a graduate of Lone Oak High School. He was retired from Inland Steel where he worked as a Railroad Switchman. Lawrence loved to travel in his 5th wheel, collecting antiques along the way and camping. Lawrence’s hobbies in his later years included gardening and helping family in farming.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Joan Overstreet Burnett; two sons, Hal Wade (Carolyn) Burnett of Paducah, and Roger Alan (Dawn Marie) Burnett of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three sisters, Janice Overstreet and Elene (Kenneth) Rushing both of Paducah; Alta Burnett (Crump) Baker Louisville, Kentucky; three brothers, B.J. (Hilma) Burnett, Lexington, Kentucky, George “G.L.” (Camillah) Burnett, Terry (Linda) Burnett, both of Paducah; five grandchildren, Brady (Dana) Thompson, Angela (Brian) Flock, Emily (Caleb) Huff, Tyler (Tara) Burnett and Abigail Burnett; six great-grandchildren, Madelyn Thompson, McCall Thompson, Corrine Luckett, Gavin Luckett, Nolan Flock and Lydia Flock ; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding in death were one daughter, Tresea Burnett; one infant son; parents, Rudy and Edith Burnett; one brother, Chester Burnett, one brother-in-law, Windy Overstreet and one sister-in-law, Ethel Burnett.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Dr. Nathan Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 25, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
