Master Gardener Barbara Ray joined us on WCBL’s Coffee Call program. With Benton’s Tater Day, Ray says it’s a good time to see old friends and family and to also think about growing sweet potatoes. She says it takes quite a bit of work and will take you about four months to complete the full process. Ray says you can eat the entire sweet potato and is a very healthy food. She says you can even take the leaves and eat them like you would spinach. Ray says you can always ask a master gardener for advice and lots of free information about gardening is also available from the Marshall County Extension Office. And Saturday, May 18th will be the annual Master Gardeners’ Plant Sale at the extension office.
