Lady Marshals beat Murray 63-31 on Senior Night

Seniors (L-R) Amelia Boone, Chevelle Henson and Izzy Washburn were honored on Senior Night and it was capped off with a 63-31 district win over Murray.

Senior Night was celebrated at Reed Conder Gymnasium on Tuesday and the Lady Marshals gave their three seniors a win while taking one more step toward an unblemished district record in their 63-31 victory over Murray.

They improve to 5-0 against 4th District opponents and 17-5 overall while extending their current win streak to seven games.

Eleven different players scored for the Lady Marshals led by Skylar Waller with 14 pointes, 12 coming from behind the arc.

A quick three pointer by Waller after the opening tip was matched at the other end by Murray’s Mylee Smith. Chevelle Henson scored for a 5-3 Lady Marshals lead and they never trailed again. Eight points from Waller and seven by Henson led the way in their 22-6 lead at the end of the quarter.

Holding Murray to five second quarter points, the Lady Marshals took a 38-13 lead at halftime. Izzy Washburn scored back-to-back goals to lead the second quarter scoring.

Amelia Boone hit a three pointer to open the second half scoring for the Lady Marshals and they went on to outscore Murray 25-18 in the half in the 32-point win.

Murray was led by Mylee Smith with 12 points and the Lady Tigers drop to 5-12.

Their final district game of the regular season will tipoff Friday at Calloway County (20-5).
