Marshals beat Goodpasture Christian 70-57 in Friday’s Hoopfest game

In the final game of Friday’s evening session of the Marshall County Hoopfest, the Marshals played Goodpasture Christian from Madison, Tenn. The Marshals won 70-57 in a game that began late on Friday and ended after midnight.

Four Marshals were in double-figures led by Alex Staples with 18 points. Staples was 8-of-11 at the free throw line and had five assists. Jayden Jones led Goodpasture with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

The Marshals trailed by two points at the end of the first quarter and were down by three at halftime at 32-29. They outscored Goodpasture by seven in the third quarter and nine in the fourth quarter on their way to the 70-57 win.

With just a few hours rest, the Marshals will back on Howard Beth Court at Reed Conder Gymnasium to play Madisonville-North Hopkins at 4:00 today in their second game of the Hoopfest.
