Trigg County Sheriff Pleads Guilty to Misconduct Charges

CADIZ, Ky. (November 29, 2023) – Trigg County Sheriff, Aaron Acree, pleaded guilty on Tuesday after a Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigation uncovered multiple instances of misconduct and other offenses.

KSP detectives began investigating in the Spring of 2022 after allegations of misconduct arose.  In the fall of 2022, and after a lengthy investigation, which included the examination of digital forensic evidence, Sheriff Acree was indicted on multiple misdemeanors in Trigg County.

On Tuesday, November 28th, Sheriff Acree pleaded guilty to two counts of Official Misconduct 1st Degree and two counts of Menacing.  Acree was sentenced to 24 months of probation.  Acree, a former KSP Trooper, was appointed to Sheriff of Trigg County in September of 2020.  He was re-elected as sheriff in November of 2022.
