Pickleball players win medals across three states

Local pickleball players went to three different tournaments over the weekend, Indiana, Illinois, and Florida. Just a few years ago there was never more than one tournament in surrounding areas within a 2-3 hour radius, just goes to show how popular pickleball has become.

Kayla Travis and her partner came home with GOLD in the 4.5 Mixed Doubles event at the Rivertown Pickleball 1st Annual Fall Battle in the Burgh sponsored by Baird at their brand new 10 court complex in Newburgh Indiana. There were 210 players over three days vying for placement.

Steve Shidal and Suzanne Shidal played in 4.0 Men’s and Women’s Doubles in Holly Hills Florida. Over four days with 645 players on 41 courts at the 4th Annual Conviva Pictona Open. Steve brought home a SILVER in 3.5 Men’s Singles.

Marion Illinois Park District hosted the Halloween Havoc Pickleball Tournament at the Black Diamond Pickleball Complex. Over three days on six courts, 77 players competed in Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Sara Darling and Lisa Tack won GOLD in 3.5 Women’s Doubles, Jeremy Hudgin and Jacob Hudgin won SILVER in 3.5/4.0 Men’s Doubles and Brigette Thompson and Shane Boudreaux won SILVER in 3.0 Mixed Doubles.
