
Last Friday, the Marshals traveled to Owensboro to play the Red Devils who came into the game on a two-game win-streak over Class 5A, District 1 opponents Graves County 28-21 and 61-21 win over Apollo. Owensboro is the reigning 5A District 1 champions and advanced to the semi-final round of last year’s state playoffs.
The Red Devils handed the Marshals a 50-0 loss and improve to 4-3 and 3-0 in the district. The Marshals fall to 2-5 and are 1-2 in district games.
Owensboro had 477 yards of offense equally distributed between the air and the ground. They rushed for 237 yards, led by Evan Hampton who had 11 carries for 147 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Owensboro quarterback, Trevor Delacey was 13-of-17 in passing for 240 yards and three touchdowns. Delacey’s main receiver was Chadyn Morris who had five catches for 171 and two touchdowns.
The Marshals had 109 yards of offense. They had 79 yards on the ground led by quarterback Neyland Jezik with three carries for 28 yards. Aiden Dunnigan had eight carries for 27 yards and Jackson Mahmet two carries for 17 yards.
Jezik was 3-for-6 in passing for 25 yards. Kamren Brown caught one pass for 17 yards. Kolt Lindsey led in total tackles with five, Jordan Clapp had four. Gavin Clark had one interception for the Marshals.
The Marshals have a bye week this Friday and will be back in action at home on October 13 against Graves County (4-3).
