Beth wins back-to-back state golf titles, Lady Marshals state runner-up

Trinity Beth is the 2023 individual KHSAA Girls’ State Golf Champion, winning the title for a second straight year. The Lady Marshals are the State Runner-up, earning that distinction for the second straight year following two state titles in 2020 and 2021.

Beth finished the first round tied for second at even par 72, five strokes behind Sacred Heart’s Keira Yun who led with a 5-under 67. She fired a 3-under 69 on Wednesday’s second round to win the individual state title by one stroke over Yun who shot 3-over 75 in round two.

Heading into the second round, the Lady Marshals were tied for third with Lexington Catholic, eight strokes behind Cooper in second place. Sacred Heart held a 15-stroke lead going into the second round.

The Lady Marshals second round was six strokes better, enough to jump ahead of Cooper and finish runner-up by one stroke. Their 2-day score was 324-318/642 (+66). Cooper finished third with a score of 316-327/643 (+67). The team from Sacred Heart is the 2023 State Championship with a 2-day score of 301-317/618 (+42).

The rest of the Lady Marshals scoring came from CeCelia Ray who finished tied for 17th with a score of 84-77/161 (+17), Katie Roberts finished tied for 39th with 81-88/169 (+25), Skylar Waller finished tied for 50th with a score of 89-84/173 (+29) and Brooklyn Cunningham tied for 58th with scores of 87-90/177 (+33).
