
Jerry Michael Slonski, age 73, of Benton, Kentucky, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home.
Jerry was born in Chicago on March 7, 1950 to the late Julius Frank and Arlene Walstrom Slonski. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Jerry worked for 25 years as a police officer with the Chicago Police Department before retiring to the Kentucky Lake area. He loved to be on the water boating and fishing in his free time. Jerry also enjoyed growing a garden full of peppers and tomatoes, along with other vegetables. Jerry will be remembered as being a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry Slonski; his two daughters, Kristin (Chris) Medina of Algonquin, Illinois and Jamie (Mike) Cummings of Woodstock, Illinois; two sons, Michael (Angela) Slonski of Norridge, Illinois and Matthew (Kathy) Slonski of Elk Grove, Illinois; a sister, Sandra (Bernie) Brennan of Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Jacob Slonski, Christopher Medina, Jr., Kaelyn Medina, Brooke Slonski, James Cummings, Caylie Medina, Mikey Cummings and Violet Cummings; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at a later date. Filbeck-Cann of Milner & Orr is in charge of arrangements.
