Marshall County Mountain Bike Team kicks off fall season in Lexington

The 2023 season of the Kentucky Interscholastic Cycling League (KICL) got underway last weekend a Lexington’s Veterans Park. This is the third season for KICL and the 10th for the Marshall County Mountain Bike Team. A total of 215 racers rolled up to the start line on Sunday.

With the exception of the 2021 season when racing was canceled, the Marshall County team has won the State Championship all nine seasons of competition.

Marshall County took the top step of the podium in two divisions. Eli Rudd won the boys JV race and Brady Atkins took the win in the boys Sophomore race. Also taking a step on the podium was Owen Lepisto who finished third in the JV race.

Podium finishes for the girls came from Emma Roberts who placed second in the JV race, Claire Austin placed third in the Varsity race and Addison Roberts took third in the Sophomore race.

Top middle school results came from Nathan Downs with third and Dalton Powell fifth in the boy’s 8th Grade race and Hudson Atkins took fourth in the 6th Grade race. Amelia Miller placed second in the girl’s 8th Grade race and Chloe Sharp took third in the 6th Grade race.

Northern Kentucky Roots Composite took first in team results. Marshall County finished just behind them in second place.

Race #2 of the season takes place here in Marshall County on September 10 at the Kentucky Dam Village State Park Bo Beckett Memorial Trail (BBMT).
