Marshals off to 2-0 start with wins over Hopkinsville and Mayfield

Senior Logan Parker scored three goals to lead the Marshals in their 9-1 win over Mayfield on Thursday.

Thursday at Mayfield, the Marshals beat the Cardinals 9-1 to pick up their first district win of the 2023 season and they improve to 2-0 after their 7-0 win over Hopkinsville on Tuesday.

Junior Isaac Reynolds kicked things off for the Marshals with their first goal followed by a goal from senior Zander Maxlow just minutes later. Senior Logan Parker finished off the first half scoring with two straight goals for a 4-0 halftime lead.

Goals by senior Cohen McLeod, sophomore Houston Johnson and Parker with his third of the game put the Marshals up 7-0. Mayfield avoided the shutout with a late game goal by Jose Carrillo before the Marshals made up for it with two more goals from Maxlow and Reynolds to finish off the 9-1 win.

Mayfield falls to 1-1 after opening the season with a 5-4 win over Graves County who the Marshals will play on Tuesday. Thursday will be the home opener at Colburn Stadium against Calloway County.
