Lady Marshals open 2023 season with 12-0 shutout

Presley Gallimore scored the first three goals in the Lady Marshals season opener against Mayfield on Thursday and the senior assisted on three others in the 12-0 win.

Lady Marshals soccer opened the 2023 at Mayfield, beating the Lady Cardinals 12-0 in one half of play and picked up their first district win. It was the 20th straight game the Lady Marshals have shut out Mayfield dating back to the 2012 season.

Senior Presley Gallimore scored the first three goals of the game for the Lady Marshals on assists from Anna Robertson and two by Macy Scott. Sophomore Chaney Green made it a 4-0 game at the midway point of the half before junior Mia McGregor earned her hat trick with three straight goals within five minutes for a 7-0 lead.

The last five goals were scored by Robertson, Karsyn Serpico, Maddie Terry with two and the final goal just before the half ended by Scott. Also recording assists on goals was Amelia Boone, Green and Gallimore leading the way with three.

Senior goalkeeper, Phoebe Ramsey, earned the shutout to open the 2023 season.

The Lady Marshals will play two games on Saturday in the Daviess County Classic. The JV and varsity teams will play Boyle County at 9:30 and starting at 4:30, both will play Owensboro Catholic.
