On March 3, 2023, a Declaration of Emergency was put in place in response to the McCracken County tornado centered in the Freemont community.
The State Highway Department and McCracken Road Department, along with the help of numerous individual and group volunteers, and supported by County EMS and Rescue, have, as of March 16, 2023, collected and dumped 264 dump truck loads totaling over 4,200 cubic yards of debris from the destruction. Prior to concluding the cleanup, we wish to give notice to the effected residents that the operation will terminate with final collection at noon Wednesday, March 22, 2023, and roads will reopen to all traffic. On behalf of McCracken County, and Commissioners Abraham, Bartleman, and Jones, I want to thank all residents, volunteers, and State and County employees for the outstanding cooperation and selfless determination to assist our neighbors in the Community.
