Marshals earn bragging rights in 2-0 win over the Lady Marshals

Marshals’ baseball player senior Carter McKinney at the place with Lady Marshals catcher, sophomore Merriel Jackson, behind the plate in Tuesday’s exhibition game.

Following Tuesday’s Meet the Marshals, the Marshals baseball team and Lady Marshals softball team played the first of what plans to be an annual scrimmage between the two squads. Played on the baseball field with a softball, softball assistant coach Aubree Jo Kemp pitched to each player. The baseball players were required to hit from the opposite side of the plate in the entertaining 5-inning game. The Marshals won 2-0 but the exhibition game was a win for all players, coaches and fans.

First year softball head coach Shane Darnall and second year baseball head coach Tyler O’Daniel will lead their teams into the 2023 season next week with both opening up on Monday, Mar. 13. The Lady Marshals will play at Lyon County at 6:00 while the Marshals will head to Mayfield for a 5:00 game.
