Sharpe Homemakers spotlight 92-year-old Carolyn Hast

This month, the Sharpe Homemakers would like to spotlight Carolyn Hast. She was born October 29, 1930.  That makes her our oldest homemaker at age 92.  A retired Registered Nurse, Carolyn grew up in Evansville, Indiana. She has four children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Carolyn became a homemaker in 1977 when she and thirty other women formed the club “Ladies of the Lake”.  Her favorite craft is weaving.  She makes beautiful baskets, ornaments, and loves to work on her loom.  If she isn’t weaving, she might be hand sewing “yoyos”. For those who don’t sew, a yoyo is a circle of fabric that has the edge turned under and secured with a running stitch.

Don’t let her age fool you. When she isn’t crafting, Carolyn enjoys boating, swimming, and “Words with Friends”.  She still drives and is one of our most active homemakers!  She has been a mailbox member the past two years since her club dissolved. However, she plans to join our Sharpe Homemaker’s Club this fall, and we can’t wait to have her!
