Single Vehicle Collision

On February 18, 2023, at approximately 11:00 AM, Deputies with the Graves County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle injury collision near Dr. Melvin Road and State Route 97. On arrival at the scene, deputies determined the operator and sole occupant to be 22-year-old, Kila Wiggins, of Sedalia. Through the investigation it was discovered Mrs. Wiggins swerved to avoid hitting a dog that was in the roadway causing her vehicle to exit the roadway. After exiting the roadway Mrs. Wiggins went through a ditch, crossed a field, and entered a yard on the right side of the roadway. Mrs. Wiggins attempted to slow her vehicle and re-enter the roadway but was unsuccessful as she crossed back over St Rt 97, crossed the ditch on the left side of the roadway before crossing an elevated driveway and coming to a rest in a residential yard. Mrs. Wiggins was evaluated at the scene and transported by Mayfield-Graves County EMS for a possible head injury, as it is believed she lost consciousness during the collision.
The Graves County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Mayfield-Graves County EMS, the Mayfield Fire, and Sedalia Fire Department.
