Marshals finish 6th at State Golf Championship!

Marshall County boy’s golf team wrapped up a successful 2022 season with a sixth-place finish at the State Golf Championships. Heading into today’s final round, the Marshals were in fifth place but a good second day put in by Oldham County moved the Colonels up into fifth by nine strokes at +42 (316-302/618).

The Marshals finished the two days at +51 (309-318/627). Madison Central held onto their first day lead to take the team title at +24 (297-303/600) and Lexington Christian was second at +33 (308-301/609).

Trey Wall led the Marshals with an 11th place finish at +5 (76-73/149). Wall moved up eight spots from the first round and finished just one stroke out of a five-player tie for sixth place. Ryan Stokes (76-81/157) and David Jack Morris (76-81/157) both finished at +13 and in a tie for 42nd. Logan Davis was 60th at +20 (81-83/164) and Gunner Hoover tied for 72nd at +25 (86-83/169).

Brady Smith of Christian Academy-Louisville held on to take the individual title, despite shooting six strokes worse than his first day 5-under par. Smith finished the tournament at 4-under (67-73/140). Runner-up went to Taylor County’s Seth Smith, one stroke back of Smith at 3-under (71-70/141).
