Lady Marshals, Madisonville-North Hopkins play to 1-1 tie

Peyton Lamb passes the ball against Madisonville-North Hopkins, a game the Lady Marshals dominated ball control most of the night.

After losing their first games of the season in Louisville last weekend to the top two ranked teams in the state, the Lady Marshals needed a boost with a win on Thursday at home against Madisonville-North Hopkins (3-4). They didn’t get the win but came out with a 1-1 tie after trailing until the final two minutes of the game when Kelsey Crass found the net off an assist from Laney Smith.

A hand ball penalty in the box on the Lady Marshals in the first half 12 minutes in, set up the Lady Maroons only goal by Lillie Carman and the penalty kick would be their only shot on goal the entire game. The Lady Marshals controlled the ball most of the night but just couldn’t find the net, taking 20 shots to just three by Madisonville, four of those on goal.

The goal by Crass was her ninth of the season. Parker Perry had three saves and Kaytee Parish for Madisonville had seven.

Saturday, the Lady Marshals fell 8-0 to #1 ranked South Oldham. Perry had seven saves and Pheobe Ramsey had six. Marle Kahle and Kate Hallin led South Oldham in scoring with two goals each. Four more goals were scored by Ava Roberson, Delayla Batanovic, Leah Longstreet and Ally Byrd.

South Oldham has lost one game this season and that was to #2 Sacred Heart who the Lady Marshals played on Sunday. Despite 12 saves between Perry and Ramsey, Sacred Heart found the net six times. Two goals each came from Ginger Mooser and Caitlin Chase and two others were scored by Aubrey Nolan and Whitney Rogers. Sacred Heart is currently undefeated at 9-0.

The JV Lady Marshals beat Madisonville-North Hopkins 5-0.

Marshall County will host the DC Electric Lady Marshals Classic on Saturday. The Lady Marshals will play Clarksville, Tenn. at 10: 30 am and Daviess County (7-3) at 6:30.
