Asphalt paving at two locations

PADUCAH, Ky. (July 26, 2022)  A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans asphalt paving along two sections of U.S. 60 in the Smithland area of Livingston County starting Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

Motorists should be alert for paving activities at the following locations:

New U.S. 60 Cumberland River Bridge at Smithland
Initial paving of the main line approaches on both sides of the new bridge to tie in with the existing roadway from July 27 through about August 3.  Motorists should be alert for trucks hauling asphalt into the work area.  There could be some minor delays as the new section of the roadway is tied in with the existing roadway.

U.S. 60 Paving in Downtown Smithland
Paving along U.S. 60 in Smithland from near the KY 937/Wilson Avenue intersection extending eastward to the Walnut Street intersection near Thompson’s Grocery, a distance of about 1/2 mile.  Work to start around August 5 and continue through about August 10.  Motorists should be alert for one-lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers.  Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.

This work schedule is weather-dependent.

Caution is required in areas where equipment, flaggers, and paving personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
