Track team heads to state meet with high expectations

Members of the Marshall County track and field team and their coaches left the school Friday morning with a police escort on their way to compete tomorrow in the KHSAA Class 3A Track Meet at the University of Kentucky Track Facility.

They will compete in 19 individual events plus two relays. Events get underway on Saturday at 9:00 am (EST).

Several have set some of the best times and marks in the state coming into Saturday’s state meet. Cade Flatt has the fastest 400 and 800 meter times in the state. Ben Fiser has the second best distance in shot and fourth in discus. The 4×400 relay team has set the second fastest time in the state and the 4×800 has the fourth fastest coming into Saturday. Presleigh Jennings is tied with eight others with the second best high jump mark in the state. Cole Mills is tied with eight competitors who all have the fourth best high jump results in the state. Laney Evans has the fifth best pole vault coming into the meet, tied with three others.
