Ben Fiser signs with University of Cincinnati track program

Ben Fiser, joined by his parents, Brent and Charisa, signed to continue his track and academic career at the University of Cincinnati.

Ben Fiser signed on Wednesday to compete for the University of Cincinnati track program under Head Coach Susan Seaton. The University of Cincinnati competes in the American Conference and is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division I.

Ben is a force in the ring, ranked in the top five in shot put and discus all season and is currently ranked first in the state in discus with a throw of 56-9.5. He has thrown for the Marshall County High School track and field program for four years.

“Ben is our third guy to commit this season and I know he will take full advantage of the opportunity and will undoubtedly continue his success at the next level”, Head Coach Andrew Johnston said. “I could not be more proud. Ben has followed in his brother’s (Zach Fiser) footsteps and has embodied what it means to be a student athlete. He is focused, determined and highly motivated. There are always days out here where we have to trust the guys up on the hill to be self-motivated and put in the work. However, I have never had to worry about Ben. He is a tireless worker and dedicated to the sport. The Bearcats will be better for adding him to their roster.”

Ben credits many who have helped with his development including Coach Andrew Johnston, Coach Michelle Metcalf and teammate Chase Thompson. Most of all he thanks his dad Brent Fiser, mother Charisa Fiser and brother Zach Fiser who is currently throwing at Illinois State.

“Ben’s contributions to the program have been outstanding while at Marshall County, but he is not finished yet”, Johnston said. “We expect huge things from him during this championship portion of the season. If the off-season work is any indication, we know he will have a tremendous year. We are beyond proud of what Ben has done and will do. Our goal here at Marshall County track is to ‘leave your mark’ and there isn’t any doubt of the impact Ben has had on this team. We wish him way more than luck.”

Joining Ben on Wednesday were members of his family, coaches, the track team and friends.
