Records already falling for track and field Marshals

Cade Flatt set the second fastest time in the nation on Saturday in the 800 meters at the UK High School Invitational indoor meet. His time of 1:49.76 was a new state indoor record and high school record set on the Nutter Fieldhouse track.

Members of the Marshals track and field team opened the season at the UK High School Invitational at Nutter Fieldhouse in Lexington. Not surprising, a team known for breaking records, set a few more on Saturday.

Cade Flatt placed first in the 800 meters setting a new PR time of 1:49.76 which is a new state indoor record, new high school record for Nutter Fieldhouse, Marshall County school record and just the fifth high schooler to break 1:50. Flatt finished over six seconds ahead of the field. The new mark is currently the second fastest in the nation.

Ben Fiser placed first in the weight throw with 62-01, a new state and school record. Fiser also finished third in the shot put with 49-05.50.

Will Davis set a new Marshall County indoor record and currently the second fastest time in the state with his 10th place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 50.37.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Kian Court, Cade Flatt, Preston Lamb and Will Davis set a new Marshall County indoor record and top time in the state with a time of 3:25.32 with their third place finish on Saturday.

More notable finishes – Kian Court took 12th in the 60 meter high hurdles (9.16), Ethan McCarty finished 27th in the 2-mile run (10:17.41), Samuel Lanham placed 38th in the mile (4:55.11) and Preston Lamb finished 40th in the 60 meters (7.58).

They will compete this Saturday in the Roger Minton Invitational Track Meet in Marion, Ill. The girls’ team will kick off their indoor season on Thursday, also in Marion.
