Born Sunday, November 30, 1941 in Marshall Co., KY, she was the daughter of the late Charles Derby Darnall and the late Novice Louise (Smith) Darnall. Joann was a homemaker and also retired after 28 years of service with Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY where she worked in Housekeeping. She was a member of Union Hill Church of Christ.
Surviving are son, Robert Phillips of Benton, KY, daughters, Donna Thompson of Benton, KY, Veronica (Joe) Clark of Benton, KY, Christine Henderson of Benton, KY and Deidra (Robert Gene) Jones of Anderson, IN; brothers, Paul Michael (Alice) Darnell of Benton, KY and Mark (Tresia) Darnall of Benton, KY; sisters, Nethia Faircloth of Hardin, KY and Loretta (Charlie) Frizzell of Benton, KY; grandchildren, Deonne Miller, Brandon Phillips, Blaine Phillips, Michael Phillips, Josh Clark, Joe David Clark, Ryan Clark, Allison Clark, Austin Clark, Stacie Clark, Melissa Timmons, Stephanie Hudson, Craig Thompson, Corey Thompson, Valerie Sparks, Jasmine McCormick, Nolan Phillips, Katie Jones, John Kiley Jones, Corbin Jones, Caden Jones and Valerie Parker. Also surviving are 42 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Danny Pat Phillips and sister, Eutonia Frizzell and grandson Michael Lamb.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY with David Smith officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Marshall Co. Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
