Jean was born in McCracken County on December 8, 1935 to Harry and Flossie Peyton. She was a graduate of Lone Oak High School and was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. Jean married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Chili” Morris, and dedicated her life to caring for her husband and children. Her most cherished memories were made while living with Chili at Kentucky Lake during the summer months. They enjoyed the wonderful quality time they were able to spend together fishing and enjoying the outdoors. She taught her children importance of true love in the example she set as a selfless and respectful wife. Jean and Chili’s love and dedication for one another was obvious to all who knew them.
Jean is survived by one daughter, Teri Hobgood (Greg) of Reidland; two sons, John Morris of Paducah and Steve Morris (Pam) of Kuttawa; five grandchildren, Jeff Lee, Jean Ellen Whalin, Gary Muller, Hannah Williams, and Hunter Morris; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chili” Morris; her parents, Harry Peyton and Flossie (Barker) Peyton; two sisters, Jane Shelton and Joyce Vaughn; and one granddaughter, Kristen Muller.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Wallace officiating.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
